Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants

CE for Health Care Professionals currently offers continuing education home study courses for Florida licensed laboratory personnel, occupational therapists and occupational therapist assistants, dietitians, massage therapists, electrologists, and physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.

This number will also appear on your Certificate of Course Completion. Order and pay for the courses using Visa or MasterCard through our secure site, take the course, and then take the Test. The Test is graded instantly, and if you receive 70% correct, a printable Certificate of Course Completion is issued to you. We send your course information directly to CE Broker. You can access your account and print out copies of the Certificates at any time in the future.

COURSE LIST AND DESCRIPTION

PREVENTION OF MEDICAL ERRORS (Mandatory by Florida Legislature and Board rule - $24.00)
FPTA accreditation number ME130020259

All licensed Florida healthcare practitioners, including physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, must take a 2 hour course in Prevention of Medical Errors, both upon initial licensure and each biennium. Our course has been reviewed and accredited by the Florida Physical Therapy Association. The Board of Physical Therapy Practice accepts courses approved by the Florida Physical Therapy Association for CE credit.

UPDATE ON HIV/AIDS (No longer a mandatory course except for new licensees; Elective course for all licensees, 1-hour $16.00)
FPTA accreditation number HA130020260

As of July 1, 2006, this 1-hour course is not required for initial licensure, but must be taken once prior to the first license renewal after licensure. The course can be taken as an elective course for CE credit by all other licensed PTs and PTAs.

FLORIDA LAWS AND RULES ON THE PRACTICE OF PHYSICAL THERAPY (Elective 2 hours - $24.00)
FPTA accreditation number FL130020256

This is a 2 hour elective course that can be taken for credit during for the current biennium. Board rule 64B17-9.001, F.A.C. states that acceptable subject matter for CE courses includes Florida law relating to physical therapy. This course has been accredited by the Florida Physical Therapy Association. Includes a copy of the Florida Statutes and Florida rules relating to Physical Therapy Practice. This course can be taken as a review for those seeking initial licensure who are studying to take the PT Board Laws and Rules Test. Our course is written by an attorney who has worked in state health care regulation for several years.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE BASICS FOR PHYSICAL THERAPY (Elective 2 hours - $24.00)

A 2 hour elective course accredited by the Florida Physical Therapy Association and accepted by the Florida Board of Physical Therapy. Includes the historical and legal background on domestic violence, the current research on the dynamics of domestic violence, and the role of health care professionals including PTs and PTAs in the recognition and treatment of domestic violence.

HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (HIT) FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS (Elective 2 hours - $24.00)
Florida Physical Therapy Association Accreditation Number CP130020257

A 2-hour elective course that covers the basics of the rapidly growing field of Health Information Technology (HIT). Includes the new federal laws that require health care professionals, including physical therapists, hospitals and health care facilities to begin the adoption of electronic medical records (EHRs) starting in 2011. Covers meaningful use, privacy provisions, certification and electronic exchange of EHR systems. Annotated Bibliography and HIT Glossary are included.
