COURSE LIST AND DESCRIPTION
PREVENTION OF MEDICAL ERRORS (Mandatory
course - $30.00)
All licensed Florida health care licensees, including electrologists,
must take a two-hour course in Prevention of Medical Errors, both upon
initial licensure and each biennium. Electrologists may take any Medical
Errors course that has been approved by any Department of Health Board.
Our course has been specifically approved by the Board
of Occupational Therapy Practice and is accepted by the Florida Electrolysis

BASICS OF HIV/AIDS INCLUDING BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS (2
hours - $30.00)
All licensed electrologists must take at least 2 hours of continuing education
in HIV/AIDS and Blood Borne Pathogens each biennium. In 2002, the Electrolysis
Council amended their rule to state "no fewer than and no more than
2 hours each biennium must be obtained .... on blood-borne diseases including
1 hour on HIV/AIDS education." See our Frequently

FLORIDA LAWS AND RULES FOR ELECTROLOGISTS (Elective
course - $45.00)
This is an elective home study course. Our course provides 3 hours of
credit and includes a copy of the Florida Statutes and Rules of the Electrolysis
Council. Our course is written by an attorney who has worked in state
health care regulation for several years. See our Frequently

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE BASICS FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS
(Elective 2 hours - $30.00)
A 2 hour elective course that includes the historical and legal background on
domestic violence, the current research on the dynamics of domestic violence,
and the role of health care professionals in the recognition and treatment of
domestic violence.
SEXUAL MISCONDUCT, DISCRIMINATION AND HARASSMENT (Elective course - $30.00)
A 2 hour elective course which covers sexual misconduct by all health care
professionals, and the disciplinary and other penalties for engaging in sexual
misconduct. Also covers the federal laws on sexual discrimination and sexual
harassment in the work place.
