education home study courses for Florida licensed laboratory personnel,
occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants, physical

COURSE LIST AND DESCRIPTION
PREVENTION OF MEDICAL ERRORS (Mandatory
course - $30.00)
All licensed Florida health care licensees, including electrologists,
must take a two-hour course in Prevention of Medical Errors, both upon
initial licensure and each biennium. Electrologists may take any Medical
Errors course that has been approved by any Department of Health Board.
Our course has been specifically approved by the Board
of Occupational Therapy Practice and is accepted by the Florida Electrolysis

BLOOD-BORNE DISEASES (Mandatory course - $15.00)
This is a home study course designed to provide one (1) contact hour of continuing education for electrologists licensed by the State of Florida, Department of Health Electrolysis Council. This course is accepted by the Electrolysis Council for continuing education credit. Meets new rule change requirement. See our Frequently

FLORIDA LAWS AND RULES FOR ELECTROLOGISTS (Elective course - $60.00, Four (4) credits)
This is an elective home study course providing four (4) credit hours. The course covers the history of regulation of electrologists in Florida, the licensure and continuing education requirements, the history of the use of lasers by electrologists, and how the Florida Legislature, the Board of Medicine, and the Electrolysis Council affect the practice of electrolysis. References are made to the Florida Statutes and Rules of the Electrolysis Council in the course materials, and a copy of each are included in the Addendum to the course. The course is written by an attorney who has worked in state health care regulation for many years. Useful, practical and up to date information.
HIV/AIDS BASICS FOR ELECTROLOGISTS (Elective
course - $15.00)
This is a home study course designed to provide one (1) hour of continuing education for newly licensed electrologists. Newly licensed electrologists are required to take a course in HIV/AIDS during the first biennium of their licensure. This course has been approved by the Board of Occupational Therapy and is approved for credit for electrologists. This course can be also be taken as an elective course to meet the biennial requirement for licensure renewal. See our Frequently

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE BASICS FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS
(Elective 2 hours - $30.00)
A 2 hour elective course that includes the historical and legal background on
domestic violence, the current research on the dynamics of domestic violence,
and the role of health care professionals in the recognition and treatment of
domestic violence.
SEXUAL MISCONDUCT, DISCRIMINATION AND HARASSMENT (Elective course - $30.00)
A 2 hour elective course which covers sexual misconduct by all health care professionals, and the disciplinary and other penalties for engaging in sexual misconduct. Also covers the federal laws on sexual discrimination and sexual harassment in the work place.
NEW course! HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (HIT) FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS
(Elective 2-hour course - $30.00)
A 2-hour elective course that covers the basics of the rapidly growing field of Health Information Technology (HIT). Includes the new federal laws (HITECH ARRA) that require health care professionals, hospitals and health care facilities to begin the adoption of electronic medical records (EHRs) starting in 2011. Covers meaningful use, privacy provisions, certification and electronic exchange of EHR systems. Annotated Bibliography and HIT Glossary are included.
NEW course !PROFESSIONAL ETHICS FOR ELECTROLOGISTS
(Elective 2-hour course - $30.00)
The course provides two hours on personal and professional ethics for electrologists, and the regulation of Florida licensed electrologists. Traces the development and role of professional associations and state licensure laws. Describes the licensure history for Florida electrologists. Includes the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for the national professional associations and the Florida disciplinary grounds for electrologists.
